Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all! We are home from our holiday trip to Georgia, where we spent some good time with family and friends. I will post photos of our visit another time. For now, I hope you are snuggled up with your loved ones, hopefully by a crackling fire.

While we were in Georgia, Lucy "met" Santa. I guess she was not impressed because she burst into tears the moment she saw him. Still, it makes for an amazing picture. I laugh every time I see it.

Merry Christmas to all!
Love,
Morgan, Lauren, and Lucy

Oh Christmas Tree

We finally got our Christmas tree up!

Lucy is super intrigued by the tree. We had to put the more "kid-friendly" ornaments on the bottom this year, while the glass ones go up top.

Oh, Christmas Tree,
Oh, Christmas Tree,
How lovely are your branches!

We are so excited around here about the birth of our sweet nephew, Asa! He was born on December 1, at 11 p.m., weighing 6 lbs. 4 oz. What a wonderful early Christmas present he is! We can't wait to meet him!

Potty Time

Hi all! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We enjoyed a huge feast with friends, and today, we went to the nursery to get our Christmas tree. I can't wait to decorate it!

Lately, Lucy has been expressing a lot of interest in the potty. So, we bought her a special potty seat...

I don't think she's quite ready for potty training, but it seems like she's close. I think she feels very grown-up sitting on her potty like a big kid. Next thing we know, she'll be getting her driver's license! And her dad will show these pictures to her dates to embarrass her. :)

Halloween and Birthday Weekend

Wow, it's been a while since I've posted. I guess we have been a little busy around here. My mom came to town for a visit, and she stayed for both Halloween and my birthday. We had so much fun that none of us wanted her to go home!

For Halloween, Lucy wore her puppy dog costume to her little class at the library. All her precious friends wore costumes, too. We didn't take her trick-or-treating, but we had yummy brunch at Snooze in lieu of candy. I think she makes an adorable puppy dog.

On Saturday night, my mom watched Lucy, so that M could take me out for a little birthday date. We went to the Denver Art Museum and then to dinner and a movie. It was so much fun to get all dressed up and go out on the town with my fella.

These two are so cute together, I can't even stand it!

Lucy worked on her model poses.

On Sunday, my actual birthday, we went to lunch at a place called Steubens. I had fried chicken and waffles - enough to feed a family of six.

Sunday night, my mom made a scrumptious coconut cake. Lucy helped me blow out my candles. So far, I have to say, 27 feels pretty good!

Monday morning, we had to take Lynnie to the airport and say goodbye. It's always sad to see her go, but we are so thankful for such a wonderful visit!

Lucy's First Haircut

Today, we took Lucy to get her first haircut...

Lucy got to lounge in a green Lamborghini while she had her hair cut. M was super jealous. :)

Practicing for Halloween

We got Lucy's Halloween costume this week. She loves it so much that she never wants to take it off...

Last year, she was a pumpkin (a very adorable pumpkin) and was too young to really get excited or care about being in costume. This year, my mom will be coming for a visit, which will be fun and so special, and Lucy is old enough to enjoy many of the festivities. When we asked her what she would like to dress up as, we were already 100% sure what her answer would be.

Her costume even has a little tail :)

While we won't be trick-or-treating, the Denver Public Library has a fun, little party for young kids, where they can wear their costumes and read stories, do arts and crafts, etc. It sounds like a fun (free) alternative to running around the neighborhood collecting candy that she won't even be able to eat. She would probably rather have apples and grapes (her new faves) than candy anyway.

Weekend Get-Away

This past weekend, we went to New Mexico for a little mini get-away. M was working, but I got to relax the whole time and hang out with Lucy girl. We were in the woods and hills of New Mexico (I didn't know NM had woods and hills... I thought it was all desert!), and the leaves were changing color. It was beautiful!

Lucy and I played outside non-stop! She had so much fun exploring!

While we were there, we were also able to catch up with some old friends, including Anna and Ben (who have known me since I was 16!) and their sweet little baby, Elijah. Elijah (pictured above) is only 3 weeks old and so tiny! I've almost forgotten what it feels like to hold such a tiny baby. Lucy was fascinated by him for about five seconds, and then she ran off to play with her "big kid" friends.

It was so wonderful to get out of the city and enjoy the beautiful, fall weather - even if it was just for a weekend.

Animal Sounds

Lucy would like to show off her animal sounds...

She is very proud of herself :)

Our Home: Master Bedroom

It isn't really a Master Bedroom... both bedrooms are the same size. But I feel fancy calling it that.

This is the only room in the house that doesn't feel quite "finished" to me. I feel like I need more warmth and texture in here, maybe something up on the wall? It feels a little blah to me right now. At least it's calm and serene, which is what I like in a bedroom.

That finishes up the home tour! I won't show you the bathroom because who wants to see a bathroom? But we do have one. So come see us :)

Our Home: Lucy's Room

Today, I get to show you Lucy's room, which is my favorite room in our house...

I think Lucy's a fan, too.

Our Home: Dining / Kitchen

Today, I'm sharing pictures of our dining / kitchen area. Our kitchen is tiny, and pretty basic, so I didn't really see a point in sharing photos of just the kitchen. Also, I don't really feel like it reflects our style at all. I would change it if I could, but since we're renting, I can't. Oh well. It gets the job done.

Anyway, these pictures are mostly of the dining area, with a small peek into the kitchen...

Lucy agreed to make a cameo appearance.

Nothing fancy, but we enjoy cooking and eating in here.

Next up, the bedrooms!

Our Home: Living Room

Sorry it has taken me so long to post pictures of our home here in Denver. My only excuse is that I have an almost-seventeen-month-old. You can see "before" pictures of our house here.

Today, I will be sharing photos of the living room. I feel like it's important to note that these photos are not staged. Sometimes, when I look at homes in magazines or blogs, especially family homes, I wonder if anyone actually lives there because everything looks so perfect and staged. Well, let me assure you, we live here. I left the smelly, old dog beds and the toy baskets and everything else that is ordinarily here. My style tends towards minimalism, so there isn't really a lot of clutter, but I also readily admit that my house isn't always this neat. Which I'm sure you know. OK, enough about that.

Our living room...

Painting the brick white was the first order of business when we moved into this house. It used to be a disgusting bloody red. It's amazing what a can of white paint can do.

I am still in love with the ceilings in this place.

And the light.

That's our living room where we do most of our living. Tomorrow I'll share our kitchen / dining room. Or you could just come visit us and see it in person :)

Dancing Queen

Lucy was in a very dance-y mood tonight...

She clearly has a signature move, and it works for her.

Sleepy Head

Sorry for the lack of posts. We have been adjusting to life with M back in school. I feel like things are finally starting to slow down, and we are on more of a schedule, which is helpful for me.

This morning, Lucy and I walked to the park, where she got to play with some of the other kids and explore her new walking abilities. She was so worn out afterwards that she didn't quite make it to her nap. She started to doze off while eating lunch...

The sign of a really fun morning!

Big News

Something big happened in the Angert household last week: Lucy learned to walk! She took a step here and there while we were away on our vacation, but she seemed so uncertain. We thought it would be another few months before she really started walking.

But then, one day, when she thought I wasn't looking, she just got up and walked across the room! I had to suppress the urge to clap and cheer because I didn't want to make her feel self-conscious. Sure enough, she has been walking ever since, and she seems to gain more confidence every day. She has only taken a couple of spills, and she always gets back up afterwards.

Way to go, Lucy!!!

Great American Road Trip, Part 5

We left Florida behind and back-tracked to M's hometown of Roswell, Georgia. We spent time with Lucy's Grandiva and Papa Bear, as well as Uncle Taylor and Aunt Pammy, who are expecting a little boy, due in December. We also got to spend some more time with Big Daddy, M's grandfather and Lucy's great grandfather...

{Uncle Taylor, Morgan, and Big Daddy}

After a few days in Roswell, it was time to head back to Colorado. We said our goodbyes and made the loooong drive home. Thankfully, Lucy was a champ for the entire trip. We couldn't believe how well she handled all of the travel and strange, new places. It was a wonderful trip for all three of us, and we feel so thankful we were able to visit with so many dear people. Now we can start the new semester relaxed and refreshed.

It just so happens to be M's first day back at school. I'll post about that another time, though :)
