Nursery Preview

I promised you all some photos of the nursery! It is almost finished, but not quite. So consider this a little "preview"...

I am still hoping to put another coat of paint on the bedside table, but I may not get to it before Baby Girl arrives. The rug fits in the room perfectly! I can already imagine her sitting here, playing with her toys :)

We decided not to paint the crib after all. Chances are, Baby Girl will chew on it at some point, and we don't want her devouring paint chips. My friend, Heather, made the sweet garland for my baby shower.

35 Weeks...

{35 weeks on our "baby moon"}

35 weeks! It's hard to tell from the photo because of my coat, but I am rocking a serious bump these days. Ironically, Baby's Girl's growth is actually starting to slow down. She currently weighs about 6 pounds and will only put on another pound or so between now and her birth date. She is already head down, ready to enter the world!

Because she could arrive any time now, we have to take a few precautions. For instance, we are supposed to keep trash bags and old towels in both of our cars, just in case my water breaks! We are also supposed to cover our mattress with trash bags in case my water breaks during the night, but I don't know if we'll actually do this... I feel like it would make sleeping even more uncomfortable than it already is. And of course, our bags are all packed so we can get to the hospital as quickly as possible!

Tomorrow, I will be 36 weeks. I have a feeling this little girl will be late rather than early (if she takes after me), but it's fun to think that she could arrive at any time!

Babymoon

This past weekend, we went up to Estes Park, Colorado for a little getaway before Baby Girl arrives. We stayed in the beautiful, historic Stanley Hotel, which was also Steven King's inspiration for The Shining. The hotel is supposedly haunted, but we didn't meet any ghosts while we were there :)

This was our view from the hotel... The mountains are absolutely stunning. On Thursday, we played around in the town of Estes Park, since I wasn't exactly feeling up for a hike...

Being at the Stanley Hotel is like stepping back in time... The elevators date back to 1909, though thankfully they've had mechanical updates!

We stayed on the third floor. The fourth floor of the hotel, where Steven King famously stayed, is the "haunted" floor. There are guided ghost tours every night. M and I decided to opt out of these.

Thursday night, we went to dinner in the hotel restaurant, which is famous for its whiskey bar. (M was obviously thrilled!) After dinner, we tried to watch The Shining, which the hotel has screening for guests every night. I couldn't make it through the whole movie, even though I'd seen it before... Being there, it was just too creepy!

Friday morning we had coffee and warm croissants in the hotel cafe before packing up and heading back to Fort Collins. The local forecasts were predicting blizzards for Friday afternoon, but the weather was sunny and beautiful. Still, we didn't want to take our chances being snowed in. We got back to Fort Collins around lunch time, and sure enough, the blizzard was in full force by three o'clock that afternoon!

We had such an amazing time on our little "babymoon". I feel rested, refreshed, and ready for Baby Girl to get here. It's amazing to think that she could really arrive any time now!

34 Weeks...

Tomorrow I hit 35 weeks, which means we only have 5 weeks to go! Baby Girl is the size of a large cantaloup, weighing approximately 5 1/2 pounds. I have to have my bags packed for the hospital in a week - a week! - just in case she decides to come early. We are getting very anxious and excited to meet this little girl :)

Gender Reveal Cake

Last night we went to a friend's gender reveal party for her baby (due in August). She had one of our other friends bake a cake with either pink or blue filling, depending on the sex of the baby...

The cake was chocolate on the outside...

... with BLUE filling on the inside!

I thought this was such a cute way to announce to all your friends whether you're having a boy or a girl! And since our friend already has two girls, we were all rooting for blue filling inside the cake!

This weekend, M and I are headed up to Estes Park for a little "baby moon". We're going to be staying in the historic (and haunted!) Stanley Hotel. I am looking forward to spending some time together, just the two of us, before Baby Girl arrives.

Have a lovely week!

33 Weeks...

We had a pretty uneventful weekend around here. There was supposed to be a big snowstorm, but nothing happened. I'm hoping that means spring is here to stay!

{Still no maternity clothes yet, thanks to black leggings... I wear them almost every day.}

I'm currently 33 weeks! Baby Girl is the size of a pineapple, weighing almost 5 pounds. I can't believe how fast she is growing and how soon she will be here! We have a little over 5 weeks to go, and believe me, we are counting the days!

Tomorrow, we have our car seat safety class. M is much more excited about this one than he was about birthing class :)

32 Weeks...

Here I am at 32 weeks... getting rounder and rounder. This week, Baby Girl is the size of a honey dew melon, weighing about 4 1/2 pounds! She is growing so fast, getting ready to make her grand entrance into the world.

This past weekend, we attended our birthing class. It was fantastic, and it put my mind at ease about the whole experience. We learned some different techniques for managing pain and overall what to expect once we get to the hospital. We also had to watch several births, which understandably freaked M out a little bit :)

We got a surprise blizzard this morning. Yesterday, the temperatures were in the 50's. I feel like Colorado cannot decide between spring and winter!
