Sick Day

Today, we are taking a sick day. We are both working from home and taking lots of medicine and trying to get plenty of rest.

A Little Get-Away

Sorry for the lack of posts last week. We have been house-sitting for some friends of ours. They live a ways out of town, and so we have not had access to the interwebs. This has been just fine with me. It's really nice to have a little break from all the social media once in awhile.

The folks we are house-sitting for live on the lake. They also have a hot tub over-looking said lake. They also have a custom home theater in their basement. I feel like I have been living in an episode of Cribs. Maybe we will film a rap video.

Morgan and I have both managed to catch nasty colds. We are trying to catch up on sleep after a busy weekend of wedding festivities. Tonight is our last night in the Cribs house, and then things should settle back into their normal rhythm again. Until then, we are drinking lots of OJ and watching movies on the big screen.

You Know Fall Has Arrived When...

...there is Georgia football on TV...

...and hot apple pie. Yes, indeed.

The seasons are changing. The temperature here in Fort Collins has dipped down into the 50's the past few mornings. There are so many things to love about Fort Collins in the fall. Last year, we arrived just in time to see all the pretty colors.

Roasting a Chicken

Tonight, we roasted a chicken! It was our first time, and I was feeling a bit intimidated. But it turned out to be pretty darn easy. Honest. We used this recipe.

The chicken came out so juicy and tender. It reminded me of my mom's roast chicken that we always ate growing up :)

Happy Weekend!

Rainy Days

Hello there. How are you? The weather has been rainy and cold here in Fort Collins the last couple of days. I have been listening to Patty Griffin, my go-to rainy day music, knocking out my rainy-day chores (mending clothes, folding laundry, etc.), and watching the Hills (do not judge). Last night, Morgan and I went to the movies. We had to get out of the house and do SOMETHING.

It's funny how spoiled I am by all the sunshine in Colorado. It hardly ever rains here, and when it does, I am appalled. I don't know what to do. I forget how to turn on my windshield wipers. I do not even own an umbrella!! I think living here is making me soft.

Scenes from the Long Weekend

Lars and the Real Girl at the New Belgium bike-in movie.

On Friday, we took Lily and Winston to Oak Street square to play in the water.

This weekend was Tour de Fat in Fort Collins. There were thousands of people on bicycles dressed in costumes. Our friend Davis was a Mexican wrestler, and Morgan just wore items from his closet.

After the bike parade, we grabbed coffee at Little Bird, the most scrumptious bakery in town.

Tonight was pretty low key. We had some friends over to watch the Georgia Bulldogs play Boise State. The weather in Fort Collins today was crisp and cool. I have a feeling fall is just around the corner.

Labor Day Weekend

It's going to be a full Labor Day weekend. Tonight, we're headed to the bike-in movie at New Belgium. They are showing Lars and the Real Girl, one of my favorites. Saturday, the craziness begins. Tour de Fat is coming to Fort Collins, which means people, traffic, costumes, bicycles, and beer. Lots of beer. It's like a big, Dionysian Halloween parade. I may show up for some of the festivities, but honestly, I was hoping for something much more low key. College football. Late breakfasts. Possibly a pedicure. I can't tell you how much I need a pedicure right now. When your husband tells you it's time to get a pedicure... that's when you know it's time.

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!
