Snowed In

We have had some sickness in the Angert household this weekend. Morgan's food poisoning turned out to be a contagious stomach bug, which I caught yesterday morning. We are both feeling a lot better today. :)

It's snowing in Fort Collins at the moment. We are loving our huge window that overlooks the park and the foothills. Sadie and Georgia love it too, so they can watch the geese gathering down on the lawn below. Our dogs are fascinated with geese.

Today is a relaxing day. I am catching up on some things that were supposed to get done this weekend. Morgan is tutoring at the high school, so it's a girls' day in. We are cuddled up on the couch with a fire going in the fire place, while the snow falls outside. I love days like this.

A Spoonful of Sugar

We are (almost) all moved into our new apartment! It has been quite the process. If I were Mary Poppins, I could just snap my fingers and watch everything unpack itself. But I am not Mary Poppins.

Morgan woke up the night before last (our first night in our new apartment) with terrible food poisoning. After an entire day of carrying heavy things, we were starving and desperate, so we went to Qdoba for dinner. Let's just say that Morgan's burrito did not get along very well with his stomach. So he was up all night Thursday night, and then spent most of the day yesterday recovering. We have had a couple of setbacks, but the new place is coming along. And Morgan feels much better today :)

As soon as the boxes are gone, I will take some pictures of the new place.

Eek.

If you came into our apartment right this minute, you would see boxes everywhere, an empty fridge, and the Digiorno box from the pizza we ate for dinner. It's sort of terrible. I don't think I would invite you in.

We move into our new apartment on Thursday. I am so excited for everything to be unpacked and in its place. I wish I could just fast-forward to that moment :)

By the way, watched Julie and Julia tonight. I am always touched by the sweet relationship between Julia and Paul Childs. They seem like they would have been so much fun! Note the post card.

Happy Weekend

Today I baked my first bread. I used the book Morgan gave me for Christmas. It has hundreds of recipes for breads that don't require a bread machine. Try # 1 is a wheat batter bread. It was really simple, and it's super healthy. I am really excited to get into Italian and French breads.

I am so glad it's the weekend, aren't you? Morgan is getting up at 4 a.m. tomorrow morning to go to the REI garage sale. I, on the other hand, will be sleeping in. Tomorrow afternoon, we're headed to Denver with our youth kids to this giant, indoor trampoline warehouse called Jump Street. I am more than a little excited about it :)

My Dream Job

I want to own this bakery.

Resolutions

I have been majorly slacking in the blog department. Things have been pretty hectic. We are renovating the new church building, getting ready to move everything over there. Hopefully, we'll be having our first service there by Feb. 6. Here's a photo I took of the church back in the fall. Pretty, isn't it?

I will post more pictures of the church when the renovations are finished. In the mean time, here are some New Year's resolutions, or really, things I want to learn how to do in 2011:

1. How to embroider (I know... I'm 23 going on 80)
2. How to make my own bread
3. How to garden (I can't keep plants alive to save my life.)
4. How to ski... better.

2010 in Review

I feel like a copycat. I was looking at my friend's blog, and she had posted photos highlighting 2010. I did something like this back in November when our neighbors had their Brew and Review, but I wanted to do it again now, this time more thoroughly. 2010 was just such a great year! I feel like these moments are worth remembering.

Ski Day

This week, we had a fun adventure. On skis. :)

We went to Copper Mountain. It snowed softly almost all day, and it made for the most perfect backdrop. I enrolled in ski school, while Morgan played around on the slopes. By the end of the day, we were skiing down green runs. (Morgan was actually skiing blues, but I wasn't quite up for those yet...) We skied until they closed the lifts. Then, we sat at a little cafe and sipped hot chocolate, while the snow kept right on falling.

We are still sore. Thus, we have conversations like:
Morgan: "Who's going to get up and turn off the lights?"
Me: "You can do it. I don't think I can move."

Welcome 2011

Happy New Year! We are back in snowy Colorado again after an amazing Christmas in the South. It felt surprisingly nice to come home to our cozy apartment, to our pups, and to our nice, warm bed. Especially since the weather outside has been frightful. But the pristine, white snow looks so pretty in the moonlight. I'll try to get some photos before it all melts again.

Last night, we celebrated the new year in our pajamas. We opened a bottle of champagne, ate a quiet dinner, and turned on the TV just in time to see the ball drop in Times Square. Ryan Seacrest looked so cold! I was happy to be indoors.

Today, we went to a new year's brunch at our friends' apartment. I made these amazing homemade cinnamon rolls a la Alton Brown. They were scrumptious.

Tonight, I think we're headed out to a movie. Hope you are all enjoying the new year so far! Love.
