Scenes from the Morning

Hello there. Hope your week is going well! We have been pretty busy around these parts. I was thankful for a quiet morning today. When I walked into the kitchen for breakfast, this is what I found...

I don't know if I've talked much about our younger dog, Georgia. As you can see, she is not a small dog. Her personality is not small, either. She loves to cuddle, and she is convinced that she is petite enough to sit on our laps whenever she pleases. M and I wonder if she knows she's about to have some serious competition in the house... 

31 Weeks...

The time is passing so quickly. I seriously don't know how we got here so fast... This week Baby Girl weighs almost 4 pounds and is approximately 19 inches long. I am starting to get uncomfortable, to the point that it is hard for me to stay seated long enough to get through an entire movie. But, it's all worth it to be that much closer to meeting her!

Snow

This morning I woke up to this beauty all around...

Sometimes it's hard to live in a place that has such long winters. And sometimes, like today, I love it.

30 Weeks...

I am actually 31 weeks today, but I realized I never shared my 30 week photo. You can tell that I'm having to get more creative with what I can wear. I still have not given into the whole maternity clothes thing yet... we'll see how long I can last.

It's crazy to think that I only have 9 weeks left in my pregnancy... 9 weeks!!! Baby Girl is currently the size of a head of lettuce. Her movements are getting even more visible; when I look down at my stomach, I can actually see her moving. It's so strange and wonderful at the same time. 

Valentines

M and I celebrated Valentine's Day with a fun night in. We watched a movie and had some chocolate fondue (delicious!).

Confession: I thought M was going to totally blow off Valentine's Day. He has been busy with work lately, and I just assumed he had forgotten or didn't have time to plan anything. Every time I asked him about our "plans", he would give a noncommittal answer. Men. 

When I woke up yesterday morning to find a bottle of my favorite perfume on my pillow, I was more than a little shocked. He said he had been thinking about Valentine's Day for weeks, and (even though it's not his most favorite holiday) he was excited to surprise me. The sweet gestures continued when he left a conference call at work to make it to my doctor's appointment. Listening to our little girl's heartbeat together was probably the best way we could have spent our Valentine's. 

To my Valentine:

I don't know how I can ever express how much I love you. You are truly an amazing husband, and I don't know how you put up with me so well. Thank you for loving me so unconditionally, even when I am crazy from pregnant hormones. Your love is the greatest treasure on this earth.

This weekend, we head up to Winter Park for a retreat with our kiddos. Since I'm very pregnant, I won't get to enjoy snow tubing or cross country skiing. But, I will get to curl up by the giant fireplace with a book and a cup of hot chocolate. So there's that.

Baby Girl's Crib

Tonight we put together Baby Girl's crib...

It was such a surreal, sweet moment that I just had to stop and take a picture. I can't believe she will be here soon, sleeping in this crib, the crib her dad put together tonight :)

Happy Fat Tuesday

Do you celebrate Fat Tuesday? We are having some friends over for a little party. This was my first time making a King Cake... I don't know how it will taste, but it looks pretty. (Note: It is impossible to find purple sprinkles. For obvious reasons. So we stuck with green and gold. Oh well.) 

According to the tradition, there is a baby hidden somewhere in that cake, and whoever gets the piece that contains the baby (and doesn't choke on it) will have good luck for the year. And they have to buy / make the next King Cake :)

29 Weeks

Yesterday we made it to 29 weeks...

This week, Baby Girl is about the size of a butternut squash, weighing just over 3 lbs. I can tell she doesn't have as much room in my belly as she used to. Every now and then, she likes to give me a good headbutt or stretch out her legs so that they're jabbing into my sides! She gets really active right after I eat or drink water, which hopefully means she will have a great appetite after she's born.  

I am already starting to feel so excited and anxious for her to be here! I know we still have a little while to go, and obviously we want her to keep growing. I am trying my best to be patient :)

Handmade

Today I got home and found a package waiting for me...

My sweet Grandmere sent two handmade baby blankets and a beautiful hooded sweater for Baby Girl. I can't wait to see her in it!



M gets home from Nashville tonight. I'm scrambling to clean the house and get everything ready so we can just enjoy the rest of the weekend :)
