Lucy is 7!

Last month (was it really a month ago?), we celebrated Lucy's 7th birthday. Due to the pandemic, we couldn't really have a party for her, but it was still an incredibly special day.

The birthday girl having her birthday breakfast...

Lucy wanted "sprinkle pancakes" for her birthday breakfast.

We were able to have a small birthday celebration for Lucy outside in the yard. Her grandparents and cousins were able to come, and a parade of friends drove by to wish her a happy birthday. Everyone decorated their cars with signs and streamers. It meant so much to Lucy that her friends and family were there to celebrate her, even if we had to maintain social distance.

Happy birthday, sweet Lucy! Being your mom is such a privilege and such a joy! You are brilliant, courageous, and passionate. Your name means light, and that is what you are. I hope this year is magical for you!

A Visit from the Tooth Fairy

We celebrated another big milestone in our house this week. Lucy lost her first tooth!

Lucy will be turning 7 later on this month, so she has been ready and waiting to lose her first tooth for quite awhile now. She is so excited to get a visit from the tooth fairy tonight!

Nutcracker Ballet

This year, Lucy got to participate in her ballet studio's production of The Nutcracker. She was a little mouse!

This was Lucy's first time being in a big production like this. She worked extremely hard, with rehearsals five days / week and five performances in two days. I am so proud of her!

Lucy loved it so much, she told me that she wants to be in not one, but TWO, dances next year!

Nature Camp

Last week, Lucy went to Nature Camp. She had so much fun and learned a lot about wildlife in our state. One of the most, erm, interesting things she did at camp was dissecting owl pellets in order to learn about an owl's diet. Lucy was very excited to show us the bones and skull of a mole she excavated from the owl pellet... I couldn't believe my child, who is grossed out by pumpkin innards, was so excited about owl pellets!

On the last day of the camp, the campers put on a little play for the parents. Lucy was a black bear in the play, and she did a marvelous job portraying one!

I'm so glad we are raising a little naturalist!

Spring Dance Recital

Lucy and Alice had their dance recital this past weekend!

It was Alice's first recital, and it was Lu's first year to be in two different dances. They both worked so hard this year and gave a wonderful performance! I'm so proud of them!

Happy Birthday, Lucy!

On Sunday, we celebrated Lucy's 6th birthday! It feels like yesterday that she was born, and now she's basically a teenager. Where has the time gone!?

For her birthday, we were planning to have a small, family party this year. (The girls get a big birthday party with friends every other year.) BUT Lucy's birthday happened to fall on a Sunday, and she invited her entire Children's Church class over to our house for her "party". That is SO LUCY. She loves people, and she loves a good celebration. This year, we celebrated our sweet girl with pink unicorn balloons (of course) and a moon pie "cake" (because why not?).
