Happy Mother's Day

I want to wish all the mothers out there a happy Mother's Day! I hope you are getting pampered this weekend :) You deserve it.

To my own Mama and Juli and my Grandmere - you are the most amazing women I've ever known, and I am so thankful to have your strong, nurturing presences in my life. I love you so very much. 

Mother's Day always feels extra special to me because it was the day M and I got engaged three years ago. I can't believe it's been that long!

Happy Birthday, John!

Today is my brother's birthday. I can't believe he is 22. And he is about to graduate from college in a few days. I'm getting old.

I think this is one of my favorite pictures of us... This pretty much sums up our relationship... hugging / choking each other out while my dad laughs at us.

John, I hope your birthday was amazing! We love you!

America's Pastime

This weekend, we went to Denver to see the Braves play the Rockies...

It felt so good to watch our team play again! And they WON!

Peony

While I was on my trip to Georgia, M planted this peony for me in our yard, and it is already blooming! I am not one of those people with a green thumb, so I am hoping we can keep this little plant alive for awhile.

This week has been a full one. On Monday night, we went to a bottling party. One of our friends brewed his own beer and then invited us all over to watch and participate in the bottling process. I never realized how much work goes into bottling beer, let alone making it. I was too afraid to touch anything, but M was in charge of capping the bottles. The bottle caps have to be boiled in water and then clamped onto the bottles with this claw-looking device. Intense.

Last night, we got to have dinner with my dad in Denver! He was here for a business trip, and we took him to 16th Street and then to dinner at Appaloosa Grill. It was so wonderful to get to see him, even if it was only for a few hours.

Friday, we are headed back to Denver to watch the Atlanta Braves play the Colorado Rockies. Of course, we'll be rooting for the Braves. We may live in Colorado, but our loyalties have not changed.

Georgia Wedding Weekend Re-cap

Sorry it has taken so long to write about my trip to Georgia a few weeks ago. I went back for my friend Kelly's wedding.

My favorite part of the trip was just being able to catch up with friends and family. I stayed at M's parents house and got to spend lots of quality time with them. Then, on Saturday morning before going to the airport, my dad and brother were supposed to come to Atlanta to have brunch with me. I was so excited to see them, but also a little sad that my mom wouldn't be there. She has been hiking the Appalachian Trail since March, and by this time, she was all the way in the Smoky Mountains. When the doorbell rang on Saturday morning, I went to answer it. There, standing on the Angerts' doorstep were my dad and brother and... my mom! My dad drove all the way to Tennessee to pick her up and bring her to Atlanta so that I could see her! It was the best surprise ever. They totally got me. 

I was sad to leave Georgia. It's always hard to go back to the place that still feels so much like home and then come back to Colorado, which has become my new home. It made me realize how thankful I am for the people in my life that make these places home. 

Happy Easter!

I love Easter. I think it might just be my favorite holiday. I love everything it means for us, that the God we worship is living, that he conquered death and is restoring his creation. Springtime is such evidence of that... After months of cold, dead landscape, spring has brought everything to life. Last year, we didn't have much of a spring season in Colorado, so it's nice to have one this year. It makes the celebration of Easter seem much more real and familiar. Although, last Easter, my parents were visiting... hard to compete with that!

After church, getting ready for the honey-baked ham and deviled eggs...

This morning, I woke up to find that M had made me a big, Easter breakfast. After breakfast, there was church and then lunch. After we finished lunch, we went over to some friends' house to watch the Masters and sip mint juleps. I am not usually a golf fan, but it was fun to see my native state and watch a Georgia alum take the green jacket! After the Masters, we grilled out and had a nice dinner of brats and cheese grits. Pretty great finish to a pretty great holiday.

While I am bummed that Easter is actually over, I am so excited to head out on a little mini-trip to Georgia this week. One of my friends from college is getting married, and I am excited to spend some time with friends and family while I'm there for her wedding. Sadly, M is not making the trip with me, but don't be sad for him... He will have plenty of yard work to keep him busy until I get back.
